The owner of this restaurant averted the idea to rip off the graves for his establishment. Rather, he designed the whole set up around these graves. It was a deliberate effort to pay homage to these souls resting in peace and make this place a perfect hangout that can be total fun.
Graves are located quite randomly inside the restaurant and you may literally have to find the way to table. But from staff to customers, no one seems to be complaining about the same.
As per Krishnan Kutty, owner of New Lucky Restaurant, The graves have made this place auspicious and given the desired boon to his business. Since the customers are okay with the idea of dining with dead, what else can he ask for? Every morning, he wipes them clean and adorns them with flowers.
While some people think of it as an idea of serving amid artificial graveyard setting, it’s all real. Yes the graves are real and so is the cemetery. These graves probably belong to some followers of a Sufi saint belonging to 16th century.
As a business extension, this restaurant has now bifurcated the whole setting into two parts. One section serves the refreshing tea, buns with butter, biscuits while the other section offers authentic South Indian cuisines with hot and cold beverages.
The inside wall of New Lucky Restaurant boasts of an artistic work from MF Hussain who frequented this place on his every trip to Ahmedabad. With towering buildings and multinational corporate offices in its backdrop, New Lucky Restaurant has retained the charm of old city with their respect and gratitude for those who were once an indispensable part of it.

Located opposite Municipal Market, Seva Café is an initiative from a group of well qualified volunteers running the place on concept of gift economy or precisely, pay-it-forward principle. The whole café is run through volunteerism. Here, four to five items on menu are decided and cooked by guest chef. Then this meal is served to guests by volunteers.
And story does not end here! These volunteers clean the tables, prepare them for next day, and even wash the utensils. Right from your entry to the café till the time you finish off your meal, these volunteers endeavor to simply make you delighted. There are live bands of students belting our melodies and people warmly sitting by your side to explain the concepts and happenings around you.
The best part is that you won’t receive a nerve breaking bill at the end. Just a note is presented to you that ask you to pay from your Heart. Your bill will be paid by the person who came before you and you are invited to pay for others as per your wish. No amount mentioned. They just want to keep the flame blazing and flourish this concept to enter other parts of the country as well.
