The Ahmedabad International Airport is also known as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Airport. The airport is christened after the first Deputy Prime Minister of India.
It is at a distance of 8 km from the Ahmedabad railway station. It is rendering service to the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. This airport is known as the eighth busiest airport in terms of overall passenger traffic in India.
Terminals at Ahmedabad Airport
The airport consists of four terminals. The four terminals include one domestic, one international, one cargo terminal and an additional secondary terminal. There will be an Airport terminal manager available throughout the day.
It has two gates for the International Terminal and they have installed 3 X-ray baggage facilities at this terminal. There are thirty two check-in counters. They have services for following airlines: Air Arabia till Sharjah; Air India till Muscat, Kuwait, London Heathrow; Emirates and Fly Dubai till Dubai; Etihad Airways for Abu Dhabi; Qatar airways to Doha; Singapore Airlines to Singapore; Spice Jet to Dubai and Muscat; and Thai Smile till Bangkok - Suvarnabhumi.
The three gates for the Domestic Terminal have 2 X-ray baggage facilities. This terminal has thirty check-in counters. The airlines connect to major Indian metropolitan cities: Air Costa to Chennai, Air India till Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai; Go Air, Indigo, Jet Konnect, Jet Airways and Spicejet.

Various non-stop domestic flights and international flights start from the Ahmedabad International Airport. The domestic flights connect Ahmedabad to major Indian cities like Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune. The international flights connect Ahmedabad to major international cities like Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Doha, Kuwait, Muscat, Sharjah and Singapore.
Statistics claim that passenger movement in this airport sums up to 4,162,747 and aircrafts to about 38,289. This airport supports nearly 45 parking bays and each of the terminals – international and domestic have four aero-bridges each.
These aero-bridges are enclosed bridges enabling passengers to embark and disembark a flight without moving outside. These aero-bridges connect the terminal gate to the airplane. This improves the all weather, dry access to the airplane and also enhances security.
There are various fixed base operators (FBO) and shops present that include food stalls, ice cream parlors, clothing, footwear and other accessories. There are also money exchange counters, bank ATM’s, hotel booking counters, and taxi counters. This airport is a hub for the blue dart aviation. It supports cargo operations to the major metropolitan cities in India.
How to Reach Ahmedabad Airport
Easy access to and from the airport is provided by a number of cab and bus services. The Ahmedabad Road Transport Service runs a bus service till the airport, while there are plans to extend this service to cover whole of the airport area.
