In 1983 the SAL industries were started by Rajendra Shah and over the years in became a prominent steel company in India. Rasna is the other popular business house in Ahmedabad. This business house is famous as a soft drink provider and its growth is studied in many management schools.

The AMC is responsible for the management of three main hospitals, one specialized TB, one eye hospital, one hospital for the treatment of infectious disease and extended supports to twenty two dispensaries and five other referred hospitals in the city. The AMC also supports 3 public dental specialized clinics and ten maternity homes.
It also offers to two large public hospitals and two specialty hospitals in the city too.
